Alleged $5 Million Biden Bribery Scheme Links Unearthed by FBI Informant

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) has publicly disclosed an FBI informant file, acquired through subpoena, that allegedly connects President Joe Biden to a $5 million bribery scheme. The FBI, led by Director Christopher Wray, has reportedly resisted releasing this unclassified document, sparking a controversy that threatens to lead to a contempt of Congress charge against the bureau.

The informant’s tip-off, dated June 30, 2020, was shared with Senator Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) office. According to Comer’s letter, the whistleblower has legal protection, and the subpoena was issued in response to this disclosure.

The New York Post has suggested a connection between this alleged bribery case and the Biden family’s dealings in Ukraine. Interestingly, Ukrainian officials held a press conference on June 13, 2020, where they showcased $5 million in cash purportedly offered as a bribe to halt an investigation into Mykola Zlochevsky, founder of natural gas company Burisma.

The Biden-Burisma Connection

Burisma employed Hunter Biden, the president’s son, from 2014 to 2019, and an executive from the company is reported to have dined with then-Vice President Biden in Washington, DC, in 2015. Furthermore, the $5 million seized in Ukraine and the amount allegedly received by Joe Biden were both in US $100 bills, fueling speculation about their potential link.

There are queries surrounding potential changes to US policies in response to the alleged bribery. Notably, Joe Biden reportedly endorsed US support for Ukraine’s natural gas industry shortly after Hunter Biden joined Burisma’s board in 2014.

Denials and Resistance

Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss declined to let former Obama White House stenographer Mike McCormick testify before his tax probe into Hunter Biden. More recently, two IRS agent whistleblowers have claimed political intervention by the Justice Department in the tax investigation. These claims were denied by Attorney General Merrick Garland, appointed by President Biden.

Frustration with the FBI’s resistance to sharing the informant file has heightened. In a stern warning, Comer indicated he would initiate the process to hold the FBI in contempt of Congress if the bureau doesn’t release the file.

Supporters of this action, including Mike Davis, founder and president of the pro-Trump Article III Project, argue that this step would remind the FBI that it is not above the law and spur necessary reforms.

Meanwhile, the FBI has defended its stance, stating that releasing confidential source information could jeopardize investigations and endanger lives. It added that the bureau is committed to complying with Congressional oversight requests.
