GOP Senator Ron Johnson has accused Secretary of State Antony Blinken of delivering “boldface” lies during his 2020 congressional testimony, in which he claimed to have never exchanged emails with Hunter Biden.
Johnson’s remarks followed the release of emails revealing communication between Blinken and the president’s son in 2015 when Blinken was working for then-President Barack Obama. Hunter Biden was a board member of Ukrainian energy company Burisma.
Anthony Blinken ‘lied boldface’ to Congress – Senator Johnson
On Fox’s Sunday Morning Futures, Senator Johnson stated, “We know that he lied boldface to Congress about never emailing Hunter Biden. My guess is he told a bunch of other lies.”
The emails from the summer of 2015 reveal that Hunter was seeking a meeting with Blinken, then Deputy Secretary of State under Obama, to obtain his “advice” on various matters.
The emergence of these emails led Johnson to allege that Blinken may have broken the law when he testified to Congress in December 2020 during his nomination as Secretary of State for the Biden administration.
Senator Johnson: ‘You can’t trust the Biden family’
Johnson commented, “You cannot trust Joe Biden. You cannot trust Hunter Biden. You can’t trust the Biden family. You can’t trust so many of the people that they have surrounded themselves with.”
“He said he did not email Hunter Biden, and now we have those emails. We also know that his wife, using her private email address when she was an employee of the State Department, was basically a conduit between her husband and Hunter Biden as well”, Johnson continued.

Johnson calls for a subpoena for Blinken and his wife
The Senator urged his fellow lawmakers to issue a subpoena for Blinken and his wife, Evan Ryan, to testify before Congress again and preserve their records.
Johnson added, “If he wants to proclaim his innocence, I doubt he’ll do that, but he must, and she must preserve their records, their personal emails. When you get to the bottom of this, we need to show how corrupt these individuals are.”
The Functional Government Initiative, a government watchdog group, obtained many emails from Blinken while serving in the Obama administration. This shows Blinken and Hunter Biden communicating and setting up meetings through his personal AOL account as deputy secretary of state.
Records also show that Hunter emailed Ryan in 2010, inquiring about Blinken’s private email, and the three later made plans to meet for coffee.

Relationship between Blinken and Biden Under the Spotlight
The longstanding relationship between Blinken and Hunter Biden came under the spotlight last week when the House Judiciary Committee revealed that former CIA Acting Director Michael Morell testified privately that Blinken – then a 2020 Biden campaign advisor – “triggered” a letter from 51 former intelligence officials aiming to discredit The Post’s reporting on explosive emails from Hunter’s abandoned laptop.
During the second and final presidential debate against Donald Trump, Biden cited the letter, falsely claiming that the information disclosed by The Post – later widely corroborated – was a “Russian plant.”
