President Joe Biden has declared a major disaster in Hawaii in response to the devastating wildfires that have swept through parts of Maui, resulting in the loss of at least 36 lives.

The fires have inflicted significant damage on the historic city of Lahaina, a former capital during Hawaii’s time as an independent kingdom.
During his remarks in Utah, Biden pledged immediate assistance to those affected, including those who have lost loved ones and homes.
He communicated his commitment to Hawaii Governor Josh Green to provide any federal aid necessary for the state’s recovery.
Biden’s declaration will provide funding for temporary housing, home repairs, and uninsured property losses.

The president has also ordered the deployment of military resources, including the Navy’s Third Fleet, the Army, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Marines, to assist in firefighting efforts and evacuations.

The U.S. Department of Transportation is collaborating with commercial airlines to evacuate tourists from affected areas, further emphasizing the comprehensive response to the crisis..
