Biden Launches $20M AI Competition to Secure US Computer Code

The competition, known as the AI Cyber Challenge, is organized by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and involves AI development teams showcasing their AI-powered tools to protect crucial US code that underpins internet operations and other critical infrastructure.

The competition aims to enhance cybersecurity by fostering the creation of advanced technologies and is part of the Biden administration’s commitment to responsibly advance emerging technologies and protect national interests. The competition’s top three scoring competitors will receive additional monetary rewards, with the top five teams advancing to the final round in 2025. Companies such as Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI are supporting competitors by granting access to their AI technology for the challenge.
