Former Olympic athlete Caitlyn Jenner strongly opposed a transgender teen securing second place in a California track competition, stating emphatically, “This is wrong!”
Jenner, a celebrated track and field athlete, and a transgender, expressed her viewpoint in a tweet on Sunday. She was responding to news about a male high school student clinching second place in a girls’ track and field event in California.
Jenner responds to male athlete finishing in second place
Jenner tweeted, “As ‘somewhat’ of a track star myself, and a trans person, THIS IS WRONG!!! HELP ME PUSH BACK!”
Jenner’s tweet was a response to Clay Travis, the founder of Outkick, who pointed out, “A male high school student, who would have finished last for boys in the 1600 meter race, came in second for girls & stole a state title race spot from a deserving girl.”
Jenner further stated in another tweet, “And FYI trans ppl, you are being used by the radical gender ideology cult as political pawns. That’s all you are to them.”

On the preceding Saturday, Athena Ryan, a biological male student from Sonoma Academy who identifies as female, secured second place in the varsity girls’ 1,600-meter run during the North Coast Meet of Champions of California finals.
Female athlete failed to progress to state championships
Ryan’s win meant that Adeline Johnson, a track and field athlete from Branson High School in California, was left out of the state championships. If Ryan hadn’t competed in the women’s track event, Johnson would have progressed to the state championships.
An emotional video of Johnson during the podium placement ceremony spread across the internet when she was seen showing a thumbs-down gesture.
Ryan would have finished last if he had participated in the male division.

Male athletes competing against females has become common
Ryan’s silver medal win arrives at a time when biological men are increasingly participating in women’s sports, which critics argue undermines the principle of women’s only competitions.
Jenner’s critique of biological males participating in women’s sports is not unprecedented.
Recently, Jenner established a Political Action Committee (PAC) to counter what she perceives as the “radical gender ideology” of the left.
Jenner argues that this ideology is being manipulated by the left to “destroy families.”
In a one-on-one interview last month, Jenner explained the objective of the Fairness First PAC. She said it would “fight the radical gender ideology, put parental rights at the forefront of education, and keep boys out of women’s sports.”
