Elon Musk Denies Starlink Access for Ukrainian Drone Attack on Russian Navy

General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, raised concerns about Musk’s influence in the war during discussions with General Mark Milley, the Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Starlink’s Dominance and Impact on Ukrainian Operations

Starlink, with its dominant presence in the sector, now constitutes around 50% of all active satellites in orbit. The European Union plans to build its own satellite internet network, but it may take some time before it becomes operational.

Musk has provided Starlink largely for free to Ukraine, and it has become a crucial part of their communications network. However, Musk has faced criticism for not allowing his technology to be used for what he perceives as offensive, rather than defensive, strikes.

Escalation of Conflict and Use of Explosive Drones

As Ukraine’s counteroffensive stalls against heavily entrenched Russian forces, they have increased strikes on the Russian mainland. Explosive drones hit buildings in Moscow, and Ukraine also unveiled a fleet of “sea drones” to target Russian naval vessels in the Black Sea.

Kremlin’s Warning of Nuclear Response

The Kremlin warned that if Ukraine successfully recaptures territory it considers its own, Russia may resort to deploying nuclear weapons to counter such actions.
