Nakia Dorsey, 24, Found Guilty of Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault in Connection with Fatal Shooting
A Georgia man, Nakia Dorsey, has been sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of felony murder, possession of a firearm during a felony, and two counts of aggravated assault.
The charges stem from a tragic incident on November 10, 2022, when Dorsey opened fire on a vehicle outside the residence of 17-year-old Jayne Salazar-Chavez, resulting in her death and injuring Army soldier Brandon Wilson.
The verdict was delivered by a DeKalb County jury, and Dorsey was promptly sentenced following the decision.

The events leading to the shooting unfolded when Brandon Wilson, 24, visited his girlfriend, Jayne Salazar-Chavez, during the Veterans Day weekend.
Wilson, an Army soldier on leave, confronted Salazar-Chavez about a text message on her phone and became embroiled in an argument.
During the confrontation, a call was made to Salazar-Chavez’s phone by an individual identified as Dorsey, who engaged in a heated exchange with Wilson over their relationships with the teenager.
Later that night, around 11 p.m., Wilson and Salazar-Chavez returned to her home.
However, they were met with a horrifying scene when Dorsey, dressed in black clothing and armed with a gun, opened fire on their vehicle.
The vehicle sustained over 20 gunshots, and both Wilson and Salazar-Chavez were injured.

Wilson managed to drive away from the scene but was shot in the leg, while Salazar-Chavez, a beloved homecoming queen and Air Force JROTC program member, tragically succumbed to her injuries.
Social media messages and cellphone location data played a pivotal role in linking Dorsey to the crime.
These pieces of evidence confirmed that Dorsey was engaged in communication with Salazar-Chavez before the shooting and placed him near her residence shortly before the incident occurred.
The verdict and subsequent sentencing hold Dorsey accountable for the devastating loss of Jayne Salazar-Chavez’s life and the injuries inflicted upon Brandon Wilson.
The case stands as a reminder of the profound impact of senseless acts of violence on individuals, families, and communities..
