The report indicated a 30% increase in illegal border crossings in July 2023, with approximately 40,000 arrests in the Tucson sector, marking a 15-year high.
Lesko argued that the surge in border crossings, caused by the Biden administration’s policies, not only affects Americans but also harms migrants attempting to cross the United States-Mexico border.
Lesko, who is based in Arizona, highlighted the impact of these policies on both sides of the border. She emphasized that her visits to the border revealed alarming issues, such as sexual assault and human trafficking affecting young migrants.
