Hezbollah Launches Rocket Attacks on Northern Israel Following Deadly Airstrike

The militant group Hezbollah has launched a series of rocket attacks on military posts in northern Israel in retaliation for an Israeli airstrike that killed five senior fighters.

This represents one of the most intense bombardments since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war, with Hezbollah aiming to alleviate pressure on the Gaza Strip.

The war began after a Hamas attack on southern Israel that resulted in numerous casualties and hostages being taken to Gaza. A ceasefire agreement was set to take place on Thursday, along with the release of hostages, but has since been postponed to Friday morning.

Hezbollah has released a record number of 21 statements on Thursday alone, boasting about their attacks and the destruction of Israeli tanks. The rocket attacks were in response to an Israeli airstrike on a house in southern Lebanon that killed the five senior fighters, including the son of Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc leader.

The death toll for Hezbollah fighters has now risen to at least 83 since the start of the conflict. Thousands of people, including senior Hezbollah officials, attended the funeral of one of the fighters who was killed.
