It Is Not Healthcare To Cut Off The Private Parts Of A Child’ – Desantis Stands Up Against Radical Gender Ideology

This past weekend, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis expressed strong opposition to medical procedures that he considers mutilation of minors’ private parts while sharing a clip from his Friday press conference.

This marked the end of the legislative session, during which he touted the lawmakers’ significant accomplishments.

DeSantis takes a strong stand against ‘mutilation’

DeSantis stated, “It is not healthcare to cut off the private parts of a child – that is mutilation. We are standing up against that.”

He went on to criticize those who attempt to justify such procedures by calling them healthcare.

“When you talk to people — and I know like people in your industry will dress it up with a euphemism, and they’ll say it’s health care to cut off the private parts of a 14 or 15-year-old — that is not health care. That is mutilation.”

DeSantis resolves to protect the children of Florida

The governor emphasized his commitment to protecting children: “When we’re standing up against that, we’re protecting these kids.”

He cited examples of individuals who underwent gender transition procedures as minors and now regret their decisions.

“They feel like they were manipulated. I understand there are some physicians that are very ideological about it, but the fact is people go through a lot when they’re teenagers. You grow out of it most of the time in these situations,”

Most teenagers grow out of gender dysphoria

DeSantis pointed out that most teenagers who experience gender dysphoria eventually grow out of it, with 80 to 90 percent of cases resolving by adulthood.

He mentioned that even countries like Sweden have reversed course on allowing such procedures for minors.

“Sweden, these European countries that went down this road have done a big U-turn. They said this is not good medical practice, and so they don’t do it anymore,”

The governor praised the legislature for protecting minors from what he deems mutilation. He explained, “The legislature prohibited doing things like double mastectomies. They prohibited doing things, you know, with male private parts that are very graphic”.

“They prohibited pumping these minors with puberty blockers, which is just not something that’s appropriate.” DeSantis referred to these measures as “appropriate guard rails.”

Biden calls what is happening in Florida ‘close to sinful’

During an appearance on The Daily Show, President Biden commented on the situation in Florida, saying, “What’s going on in Florida is, as my mother would say, close to sinful. It’s just terrible what they’re doing.” He implied that it was cruel to prevent children from undergoing transgender surgeries.

In response, Governor DeSantis stated, “It is not ‘sinful’ to prohibit the mutilation of minors. It is not acceptable for the federal government to mandate that procedures like sex change operations be allowed for kids.”

This is not the first time DeSantis has publicly opposed the imposition of radical gender ideology on children.

Governor DeSantis remains steadfast in his commitment to protecting minors from what he perceives as harmful medical practices and continues to push back against those who promote radical gender ideologies.
