Jimmy Carter to Attend Rosalynn Carter’s Memorial Service: Distinguished Guests Expected

The Carter Center has recently unveiled the list of esteemed attendees anticipated to be present at the memorial service for former first lady Rosalynn Carter. Rosalynn Carter passed away at the age of 96 on November 19 at the Carter family residence in Plains.

The memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church, situated on the premises of Emory University. Jason Carter, the grandson of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, confirmed to Channel 2’s Richard Elliot that his grandfather intends to be present on Tuesday.

Notably, a notable group of individuals will be accompanying him. The White House has already announced that President Joe Biden, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and second gentleman Doug Harris will be attending the service.

Furthermore, the Carter Center has disclosed the remaining guests on Monday. This includes former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former first lady Laura Bush, former first lady Michelle Obama, and former first lady Melania Trump.

Several members of Congress as well as notable Georgia officials will also be in attendance. In a heartwarming gesture, beloved country music icons Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, longstanding friends of the Carter family, will grace the event with their musical performances. 

Additionally, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and ASO Chamber Chorus will contribute to the commemoration. During the service, Chip and Amy Carter are expected to deliver speeches in honor of their mother, while one of the Carters’ grandsons and three great-grandchildren will recite passages from the Bible.
