Kremlin Spokesperson Discusses Putin’s Hopes for U.S.-Russia Relations

A spokesperson for the Kremlin has expressed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s desire for a U.S. president who adopts a “more constructive” approach toward Russia and values the importance of dialogue.

Dmitry Peskov, in an interview with a major news channel, indicated that Putin is prepared to work with any U.S. leader who recognizes the need for greater caution in dealing with Russia and considers its concerns.

Dmitry Peskov stated that President Putin is willing to collaborate with leaders who adopt a more diplomatic stance towards Russia.

This willingness would extend to former President Donald Trump, should he be reelected, although Peskov did not mention either Trump or Biden by name.

During his time in office, former President Trump received criticism for his friendly approach to Vladimir Putin.

There were several allegations of collusion with Russia in the 2016 election. However, Peskov did not elaborate on Trump’s potential return.

Peskov criticized former President Trump for his remarks regarding the war in Ukraine.

Trump had previously claimed that he could “solve” the conflict within 24 hours if reelected, to which Peskov responded that the situation is too complex for such a swift resolution.

The Kremlin spokesperson accused the U.S. and Western forces of unnecessarily prolonging the Ukraine conflict.

He also suggested that the West was sending conflicting messages regarding their support for the region.

Peskov contends that sending additional aid to Ukraine only serves to prolong the conflict and encourages the responsibility for this outcome to be understood.

In the interview, Peskov conveyed his belief that the provision of aid by the U.S. contributes to the prolongation of the Ukraine conflict, which, in his view, should be acknowledged by those involved.
