New York City Mayor Criticizes Biden’s Immigration Policies

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) has expressed his discontent with President Joe Biden’s handling of illegal immigration, calling the influx of border crossers and illegal aliens into the city “unfair” to American taxpayers. Since spring 2022, approximately 140,000 individuals have arrived in New York City illegally, with most being released into the country’s interior by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under Biden’s administration.

As a result, Adams announced that there will be a five percent across-the-board cut to city services in order to manage the increased costs associated with supporting and housing these individuals, which is projected to reach $12 billion by next year.

During a recent town hall meeting in Brooklyn, Adams described illegal immigration as unjust for “everyday taxpayers.” He expressed his desire to allocate funds towards initiatives such as hiring more police officers, expanding after-school programs, providing better care for seniors, and improving infrastructure.

Adams also emphasized that the city deserved better and encouraged individuals to direct their frustrations towards Washington, D.C., rather than himself as mayor.

In an effort to address the budget shortfall caused by illegal immigration, Adams announced further budget cuts amounting to $2.1 billion. However, he assured that essential services such as police, fire, and sanitation would be spared.

According to Adams, New York City is currently facing a staggering $7.1 billion budget deficit as a result of the influx of illegal immigrants over the past two years. He and other sanctuary city mayors have appealed to the White House for a $5 billion bailout, but so far, no action has been taken.
