Over 60% of Iowa Caucusgoers Question Biden’s 2020 Election Win, Polls Indicate

Iowa’s Republican caucusgoers displayed a significant level of disbelief regarding President Biden’s 2020 election victory. An overwhelming 66% of respondents expressed their conviction that Biden’s win was illegitimate.

Perception of Biden’s Victory

In contrast to the majority view, 29% of the caucusgoers acknowledged Biden’s victory as legitimate. This sentiment persists despite extensive evidence disproving allegations of voter fraud.

Trump’s Loyal Supporters

A notable 69% of those questioning Biden’s win also reaffirmed their support for former President Donald Trump. This shows a strong correlation between disbelief in the 2020 election results and support for Trump.

Haley and DeSantis’ Support Base

Nikki Haley, the former United Nations Ambassador, found favor with 53% of those who considered Biden’s presidency legitimate. This group is predominantly identified as “moderate” or “liberal.”

Ron DeSantis’ Strong Showing

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made a significant mark, securing about 20% support. He emerged as the runner-up in Iowa’s caucus, according to election data.

Trump’s Legal Battles and Voter Loyalty

Trump’s various legal entanglements appeared to have little effect on his loyalist base in the caucus. Two-thirds of the respondents remained steadfast in their support for Trump, even contemplating his fitness for office despite potential criminal convictions.

The Minority Viewpoint

However, a significant minority, nearly one-third, diverged from supporting Trump. Many of these individuals shifted their allegiance to Haley.

Enthusiasm for Trump in Iowa

About 70% of Iowan Republicans consistently supported Trump, as reflected in The Associated Press’s VoteCast survey. This shows a strong and unwavering enthusiasm for Trump among the party’s base.

Trump’s Historic Win

By the end of the night, Trump secured a historic 51% support in Iowa. He gained 20 delegates, demonstrating his significant lead.

DeSantis and Haley’s Delegate Count

DeSantis received 21.2% support with 8 delegates, while Haley earned 19.1% with 7 delegates. This illustrated a competitive race for the runner-up position in the caucus.

County-Level Dominance

Trump dominated across the state, winning 98 of Iowa’s 99 counties. Only Johnson County sided with Haley, by a margin of one vote, highlighting Trump’s overwhelming support in the state.

The entrance polls were conducted by Edison Research, involving 1,628 caucusgoers. These polls provided a clear glimpse into the prevailing attitudes among Iowa Republicans and set a tone for the upcoming primary season.
