Pennsylvania Man Drowns After Heroically Rescuing Children in Bucks County Creek

A 37-year-old man, identified as Marvin Alexan Fernandez Chicas, lost his life in a drowning incident at Nockamixon State Park in Pennsylvania. Chicas selflessly rescued two children who were struggling in the waters of Tohickon Creek, but unfortunately, he disappeared in the water and drowned.

2. Efforts to Recover Chicas’ Body

Following the incident, the Bucks County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Chicas died from drowning. Haycock Township Fire Chief Harry Grim reported that a team of around 10 divers was deployed to search for Chicas in the creek. After two hours, the divers recovered his body.

3. Swimming Prohibited in Tohickon Creek

Authorities emphasize that swimmers are prohibited from entering Tohickon Creek due to safety concerns. Similarly, swimming is not allowed in Lake Nockamixon, the largest lake in Bucks County, which covers an area of 1,450 acres.

Fire Chief Harry Grim explained that swimmers often misjudge the depth of certain areas in the creek and lake. What may appear shallow can suddenly transition to a deep area, posing a risk to swimmers. Grim emphasized that people need to follow the rules and exercise caution to avoid tragic accidents. He also highlighted the limited visibility in Lake Nockamixon, making it unsafe for swimming.
