The demand for local food banks is experiencing a significant surge as average Americans bear the brunt of soaring prices caused by the economic policies of President Joe Biden.

This increasing demand clearly highlights how “Bidenomics” and the resulting inflation are adversely affecting lower-income families. Jackie DeCarlo, the chief executive of Manna Food Center, conveyed, “We are witnessing an unprecedented demand.”

Over the past few months, there has been a dramatic rise in the demand for food banks. Manna Food Center provided food to 5,781 families in October, surpassing its previous monthly record during the pandemic.

Similarly, Food for Others, another local food bank, distributed 30 percent more food in 2023 compared to the previous year. According to the communications coordinator, Hannah Brockway, approximately 200 to 250 individuals are served by the organization daily.

President and CEO of Capital Area Food Bank, Radha Muthiah, stated, “Since July 1, we have distributed 31 percent more food.”

The impact of soaring inflation has been felt by a large majority of Americans during Biden’s presidency. According to a report by Capital Area Food Bank, 32 percent of locals did not have enough to eat in 2023, compared to 33 percent in 2022.

As a result, many of these individuals have been compelled to seek alternative ways to feed their families. Katherine Charles, a 40-year-old single mother, shared her struggles, saying, “Biden’s inflation has made it increasingly difficult for me to provide food for my family.”

She further added, “My son loves red meat. But we can no longer afford it as we used to. The economy is not improving for anyone, especially not for me.”

Contrary to claims that Bidenomics is successful, leading to lower prices, the reality is quite different. According to a poll conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, approximately 75 percent of respondents rated Biden’s economy as “poor,” with two-thirds pointing out the increase in expenses. Only a quarter reported an increase in their income to cover the additional costs.
