Target Stores Receive Bomb Threats Amid Controversy Over LGBTQ Pride Merchandise

Target stores in at least five states received bomb threats amid a controversy involving LGBTQ Pride merchandise. The threats were reportedly aimed at the retailer for allegedly betraying the LGBTQ+ community. While no explosives were found, the threats have escalated tensions surrounding the company’s Pride-related decisions.

Stores in Oklahoma, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Louisiana received the threats, with earlier similar threats being reported in Ohio, Utah, and Pennsylvania. These incidents have followed public criticism regarding Target’s presentation and merchandising of Pride items.

Initially, conservatives voiced their disapproval when Pride merchandise, including children’s products and adult items like female-style swimsuits designed to accommodate male anatomy, were prominently displayed at the front of Target stores. However, backlash also arose from the LGBTQ community when Target reduced the visibility of the displays and removed certain items, citing safety concerns.

One threatening email received by news outlets in Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York stated, “You have betrayed the LGBTQ+ community… we placed a bomb in each of your locations, evacuate now as this is only to cause economic damage.”

A Target insider reported to Fox News Digital that rank-and-file employees were largely left in the dark about the changes to Pride sections and item availability. The insider stressed that decisions regarding Pride merchandising were made at higher levels within the company.

Further controversy has been linked to Target’s partnership with GLSEN, an education group focused on getting districts to adopt policies that keep parents uninformed about their child’s in-class gender transition. Target’s Pride collection has also been connected to Erik Carnell of Abprallen, a controversial designer and outspoken Satanist.

Since the backlash began, Target’s market cap has reportedly fallen by over $15.7 billion.
