According to a reputable news source, Leimberg’s family shared the details of this extraordinary ordeal. “At first, Hamas didn’t even realize that it was a dog. Mia just woke up and put on a nightgown, she picked up the dog in her hands and hugged her throughout the abduction. The terrorists thought it was her doll and that’s how they managed to take the dog”.

Only later did the captors realize that Bella was indeed a dog, sparking a heated argument about taking her away from Leimberg. However, the determined teenager fiercely stood her ground, asserting that Bella was her dog and refusing to give her up.

Throughout their 53 days of captivity, the dog survived on whatever minimal rations they had, with the captives going to great lengths to protect and care for their beloved pet.

Her unwavering determination and protectiveness of her furry friend ensured that they would both return home safely.

“This is not just an anecdote,” stated Aunt Meain. “It was not easy to take care of her, but the concern for the dog sustained them there and their survival.” Sheba Hospital even made preparations for Bella’s arrival, providing her with veterinary care and over ten thousand treatments.

Now, both Bella and the hostages are recovering at home, appreciating the freedom and joy that they were able to regain.
