Trump Called ‘Dumb,’ Financial Claims Mocked by His Biographer on MSNBC

During a recent episode of MSNBC’s The Weekend, the hosts found themselves unable to contain their laughter following remarks made by a biographer of Donald Trump.

The discussion centered on the former president’s imminent legal and financial difficulties, including a court appearance that is expected to lead to the seizure of his assets and the setting of a trial date regarding payments made to silence allegations of past indiscretions.

Contributing to the discussion, Tim O’Brien, a writer and chronicler of Trump’s life and career, initiated his commentary with a candid assessment of Trump’s intelligence: “He dumb.” This sparked laughter across the panel.

O’Brien’s critical examination of Trump’s current predicament highlighted the former president’s contradictory financial declarations.

He recounted how Trump, under oath, claimed a significant fortune, only to later adjust this figure publicly in a manner that contradicted his previous statements.

O’Brien summarized Trump’s contradictory statements, “A year ago he said, ‘I have $400 million and I’m adding to it monthly,’ and then suddenly [he comes] up to this judgment and [says], ‘Actually, I don’t have it’ … He then takes to social media and [says], ‘Actually, I have $500 million.’”

He deduced how frustrating this would have been for Trump’s legal team.

Further, O’Brien explained to the panel how there was an incriminating recording of him directing Michael Cohen to arrange payments of hush money.

The biographer emphasized Trump’s tendency for off-the-cuff remarks and boasting, which could potentially undermine his position during the legal proceedings — especially when questioned on the stand.

For Trump’s lawyers, O’Brien said, “That is going to hound them during this court proceeding; they have to be worried about that.”
