Former President Donald Trump has responded to his recent indictment in the Georgia probe into alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election, describing the current state of the United States as a “dark period” and pledging to win the 2024 presidential election to “Make America Great Again.”
Trump acknowledged his fourth indictment and commented on the current state of the country under the leadership of President Joe Biden.
He stated, “Nineteen people were indicted, and the whole world is laughing at the United States as they see how corrupt and horrible a place it has turned out to be under the leadership of Crooked Joe Biden.” Trump expressed his determination to address what he sees as a challenging period for the nation.
Trump’s indictment was part of a probe led by the Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis.
The indictment named Trump and more than a dozen others, including his former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, his former attorneys Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis, Kenneth Chesebro, Jeff Clark, and John Eastman, among others.
The charges include violating the Georgia Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, Solicitation of Violation of Oath by a Public Officer, Conspiracy to Commit Impersonating a Public Officer, Conspiracy to Commit Forgery in the First Degree, and other related offenses.
