Trump Slams Biden and Obama for Not Attending NYPD Officer’s Wake

In a poignant critique during an interview with Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade, former President Donald Trump voiced his disapproval of President Joe Biden’s decision to attend a fundraiser in New York City rather than the wake of slain NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller.

Trump emphasized the importance of honoring the fallen officer, stating that such moments require the presence of national leaders, irrespective of their preferences.

“They missed a very sad moment for our country, but it’s a moment that they have to be a part of, whether they like it or not,” Trump said.

Trump, who was present at Officer Diller’s wake in Massapequa Park, Long Island, contrasted his actions with those of Biden, who chose to participate in a high-profile Democratic fundraising event at Radio City Music Hall.

The event boasted attendance by notable figures, including former Presidents Clinton and Obama, as well as celebrities like Stephen Colbert and Lizzo.

Trump accused Biden of not being able to support the police due to political reasons.

He suggested that the Democratic base’s stance might be influencing Biden’s actions.

“They want to shy away from it,” he said.

“They didn’t even call the family. They could have called… I’m not sure they’d take his call.”

He highlighted his own unequivocal backing for law enforcement, recalling the warm reception he received at the funeral home.

Officer Diller tragically lost his life when he was shot at during a traffic stop by suspect Guy Rivera, who had a history of 21 prior arrests.

The 31-year-old officer, who served with the NYPD for three years, left behind a wife and a young son.

Trump expressed his admiration for the Diller family, recognizing Officer Diller as a hero whose loss has profoundly affected the family, the police force, and the country at large.

He also pointed to the incident as indicative of a broader disrespect for the law, calling for its restoration to prevent further tragedies.

Meanwhile, the White House stated that President Biden had spoken with NYC Mayor Eric Adams regarding the incident, though any details of the conversation were not provided.

The statement reiterated Biden’s longstanding support for law enforcement and his commitment to ensuring that officers have the necessary resources to protect their communities.

In a gesture of support, the Tunnel to Towers organization announced plans to pay off the mortgage for Officer Diller’s widow, highlighting the widespread recognition of the sacrifice made by Officer Diller and the collective mourning for his loss.
