Ukrainian Army Faces Russian Offensive Amidst Ammunition Shortages

Ukrainian military officials have issued a stark warning, asserting that Russia is actively engaged in offensive operations across much of the frontlines.

This intensification of hostilities comes as Ukraine’s armed forces grapple with dwindling ammunition supplies and await stalled funding from the United States Congress.

For several months, the frontlines have remained relatively static, primarily concentrated in eastern and southern Ukraine.

Last summer, Ukraine’s counteroffensive faced formidable Russian defenses, resulting in limited territorial gains.

Ukrainian forces also report heightened pressure further southeast in the Bakhmut region.

Sergeant Oles Maliarevych of the 92nd Separate Brigade emphasized the ongoing threat posed by Russian forces, which engage in daily assaults.

“The enemy is amassing forces… they assault every day,” Maliarevych told Ukrainian television.

While Ukraine made modest territorial gains last summer, its ambitions to disrupt Russia’s land corridor to Crimea were partially realized.

The forces attempted to push south from Orikhiv to Tokmak but only reached Robotyne, a little over 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) south.
