US Imposes Travel Restrictions in Israel Amid Iran Threats

Travel restrictions have been imposed by the United States on its employees and their families in Israel due to increasing tensions with Iran.

In response to Iran’s threats of retaliation, the move has been made following an airstrike on the Iranian embassy compound in Damascus on April 1.

The U.S. embassy in Israel has issued a statement informing its personnel that personal travel outside the greater Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Be’er Sheva areas is currently prohibited.

This restriction will remain in effect until further notice.

President Joe Biden highlighted the U.S. commitment to Israel’s security, stating that Iran posed a threat of launching a “significant attack” on Israel.

Matthew Miller, a spokesperson for the State Department, discussed the security alert and mentioned that ongoing assessments of the situation on the ground were being conducted due to Iran’s public threats towards Israel.
