The screeners are one of the strongest parts of Barchart Premier because they let you narrow stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, and other supported markets using hundreds of criteria. 

You can filter by price, volume, technicals, fundamentals, ratios, and Barchart Opinion data, then save the setup for future use. 

Premier removes the normal screener limit and allows unlimited saved custom screeners that you can run any time you want. 

It’s also possible to view results through Flipcharts, save them to Watchlists, download them to CSV, or schedule automatic email delivery throughout the day.

These screens are super handy and easy to use, making market data accessible with little more than a keystroke.

Options Screeners and Options Research

Historical Data Downloads

Historical data is one of the more practical Premier upgrades if you like working with your own spreadsheets or reviewing past market behavior. 

Barchart lets Premier members download historical pricing for stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, futures, commodities, forex, and crypto. 

Intraday records can reach back roughly 10 years in intervals as small as one minute, while daily data is available back to January 1, 2000. 

Weekly, monthly, and quarterly records can stretch back to 1980, depending on the symbol. Premier also supports up to 250 standard daily data downloads across several Barchart pages.

Charts and Custom Views

Barchart’s charting tools become much easier to personalize with Premier. 

You can create unlimited chart templates that save settings such as aggregation period, candlestick or OHLC style, technical studies, chart size, and other preferences. 

My Charts goes further by letting you save multiple configurations for the same symbol, including separate trendlines and studies. 

Custom Views are equally useful, with more than 400 available data fields covering price, moving averages, fundamentals, ratios, technicals, and Barchart Opinions.

Watchlists and portfolios turn Barchart from a research site into something you can use to monitor ideas over time. 

Premier members can create unlimited Watchlists and unlimited Standard or Investor Portfolios, compared with much tighter limits on the lower memberships. 

Watchlists support custom data views, Flipcharts, screening, news, technicals, options analysis, and recurring email updates.

It’s possible to run saved screeners automatically and send results by email at several points during the trading day.

What Markets Does Barchart Premier Cover?

One of Barchart’s biggest strengths is that it does not box you into a single corner of the market.

The platform covers stocks, ETFs, options, futures, commodities, currencies and forex, cryptocurrencies, mutual funds, market indices, and sectors. 

That makes it easy to check the broader market before drilling into a specific asset or opportunity.

Barchart Free vs Premier: What Do You Get With the Upgrade?

Barchart Free is more capable than I expected, which makes the Premier upgrade easier to judge on its actual merits.

A free account never expires and gives you access to core tools such as Watchlists, Portfolios, Screeners, saved chart settings, trendlines, Custom Views, basic price alerts, and basic data downloads.

The limits are where Premier begins to pull away.

Free members currently get one Watchlist, one Portfolio, one saved Custom Screener, one Custom View, and one Chart Template. Premier removes those limits.

Free accounts also receive one daily data download, compared with as many as 250 per day through Premier.

Research tools get a similar boost.

Premier unlocks advanced options functionality, historical data downloads, custom reports, unlimited basic alerts, advanced real-time alerts, and much deeper automation. 

Free isn’t some stripped-down demo, but Premier starts making more sense once those limits become part of the daily routine.

Barchart Plus vs Premier: Features and Limits Compared

Barchart Plus sits neatly between Free and Premier, and it fills an important gap for users who want more flexibility without needing the entire premium toolkit.

The jump from Free to Plus is mostly about removing everyday restrictions.

Plus currently allows up to 10 Watchlists, 10 Portfolios, 10 saved Screeners, 10 Custom Views, 10 Chart Templates, and 10 My Charts. 

Page views  become unlimited, and paid memberships remove advertising from the site.

Premier takes most of those limits away altogether.

You get unlimited Watchlists, Portfolios, saved Screeners, Custom Views, Chart Templates, and My Charts, along with substantially more data downloads.

The biggest difference, though, is not simply higher limits.

Premier is the tier that unlocks Barchart’s stronger options research, including Advanced Options Screeners, Unusual Options Activity, Options Flow, Options Time & Sales, volatility tools, and historical options data. 

It also adds Advanced Real-Time Price Alerts, Premier reports, historical symbol downloads, and more automated email reporting.

What I Like Most About Barchart Premier

The strongest part of Barchart Premier is how well the individual tools work together.

A screener does not have to end with a list of symbols. You can slide those results into a Watchlist, display them through a Custom View, pull them  up in charts, screen them again, or save a search to your hard drive.

That creates a much smoother research routine than jumping between separate websites for every task.

Options coverage is another major advantage.

Advanced Options Screeners, Unusual Options Activity, Options Flow, Time & Sales, implied-volatility tools, and historical options information give the platform considerably more depth for options research than a standard stock-data website.

Premier also allows unlimited Watchlists, Portfolios, saved Screeners, Custom Views, Chart Templates, and My Charts. 

Rather than forcing one research style on everyone, Barchart gives you enough room to build the platform around the markets and data you actually follow.

Where Barchart Premier Could Be Better

Barchart Premier packs in a huge amount of data, but that depth can make the platform feel busy at first.

There are separate pages for different markets, screening tools, chart types, custom views, alerts, options analytics, reports, portfolios, and downloads. 

Barchart does a good job addressing that problem with page-specific help, tutorials, site guides, live webinars, and other educational resources.

Market-data timing deserves attention as well.

Not every asset or dataset follows the same real-time schedule, so it is worth checking the timing for the specific market you follow rather than assuming every quote and options feed updates the same way.

The other limitation is that not everyone needs Premier.

Barchart Free already covers a lot of basic research, while Plus expands many of the limits for considerably less than the top membership. 

Premier makes the most sense when advanced options research, historical downloads, automated reports, higher download allowances, or unlimited saved tools will actually get regular use.

Barchart Premier Refund Policy and Cancellation Terms

Barchart gives annual and biennial Premier members 30 days from payment to request a full refund, while monthly plans have a 24-hour refund window. 

After that, sales are final. Eligible refunds are processed within 7 business days, and Barchart does not offer prorated refunds. 

Paid access continues through the current term after cancellation.

After reviewing Barchart Premier, these are the biggest strengths and the few limitations that stood out most.

How Much Does Barchart Premier Cost?

Barchart Premier currently offers three billing options, all with access to the same premium research tools.

The monthly plan costs $29.95 and includes the first 30 days free. 

This is the most flexible option and gives full access to advanced screeners, historical data downloads, options research, alerts, custom reports, and the rest of the Premier toolkit.

Jump into the annual plan costs $239.95 per year, which comes out to about $19.95 per month. That saves roughly $119.45 per year, or about 33%, compared with paying month to month.

The best overall value is the two-year plan at $419.95, which works out to about $17.49 per month. 

That saves close to 42% compared with the standard monthly rate over two years.

All three plans include the same Premier features, so the main difference comes down to billing flexibility and long-term savings.

Is Barchart Premier Worth It?

After using the platform, I think Barchart Premier can be a great fit if you rely on market data as part of a regular research routine.

The combination of advanced screeners, deeper options research, historical data, alerts, and automated reports makes it much easier to organize research without jumping between several different services.

Its multi-asset coverage is another strong point, especially if you follow stocks, options, futures, commodities, currencies, or crypto from the same dashboard.

The free version is still useful, but Premier removes many of the limits that become noticeable once you use Barchart often.

If I’m being honest, even at $29.95 for the monthly plan, there’s a ton of value here. The fact that you get 30 days free and at least a little time to refund your purchase is a big win.

Landing the plane, my Barchart Premier review comes down positively: the service offers enough depth, flexibility, and research power to justify the upgrade  as long as you plan to use it.
