According to a detailed investigation by The Daily Beast, a considerable portion of the RNC’s funds, while appearing adequate on paper, are restricted in their use for political endeavors.
At present, the RNC has about $11 million for the election, a figure significantly lower than its Democratic counterpart.
There has been a stark decrease from the $77 million available at a similar juncture in the previous election cycle.
Despite recent fundraising efforts suggesting a potential turnaround from last year’s financial difficulties, a closer look at the RNC’s finances reveals critical limitations.
The funds in question, amounting to millions of dollars, are earmarked for specific, non-political purposes.
For example, this money could be used to pay off legal fees for Donald Trump.
Political parties manage accounts designated for specific expenses like infrastructure maintenance, conventions, legal or recount costs, etc.
These funds are governed by a different set of regulations, firmly establishing that they cannot be utilized for direct political activity.
It turns out that more than a third of the funds available with the RNC are meant for such specific expenses.
This financial revelation coincides with significant internal shifts within the RNC, including the departure of its leadership and replacement with a pro-Trump team.
Additionally, the party is struggling with other controversies, such as the retraction of its community outreach initiatives.
