In a striking television moment, former Hamas member Mosab Hassan Yousef openly criticized pro-Palestinian activists during a debate on Dr. Phil Primetime, calling into question their support for what he describes as a dangerous organization.
The debate featured Yousef alongside pro-Palestinian activists Salma and Zaynab from the University of Michigan, who were invited to discuss the contentious issue of Palestinian activism in the context of ongoing Middle Eastern conflicts.
Mosab Hassan Yousef, also known as “The Green Prince,” is known for his drastic shift from a Hamas insider to a critic of the organization.
The son of a Hamas co-founder, Yousef worked undercover for Israel’s Shin Bet security service after defecting in 1997.
During the show, Yousef expressed disappointment in American supporters of Hamas, labeling them as naive and misinformed about the group’s brutal tactics and true nature.
“It’s very disappointing to see Americans supporting Hamas and thinking that Hamas is a cool thing, while Hamas does not respect any of those followers, while those followers don’t know that Hamas would torture them and massacre them with no mercy,” he said.

He further described Hamas as a “dark black hole” that poses a significant threat not only to Israel but to peace in the Middle East.
The activists, wearing traditional Palestinian keffiyehs, attempted to defend their positions but were challenged by Yousef’s pointed accusations that they were merely echoing Hamas propaganda without a legitimate understanding of the issues at hand.
Host Dr. Phil McGraw pressed the activists to denounce the terror attacks carried out on October 7, but they responded by referencing historical conflicts, which Dr. Phil critiqued as an inappropriate justification for the current violence.
Yousef argued that the Palestinian public increasingly supports Hamas, citing polls that showed a spike in favorability following recent conflicts.
This support, according to Yousef, complicates the distinction between Palestinian civilians and Hamas operatives.
By supporting Hamas, Yousef argued, Western activists are inadvertently complicit in the crimes committed by the group, as their ideological support helps Hamas maintain its damaging strategies against Israel.

Dr. Phil highlighted the importance of recognizing acts of violence as fundamentally wrong, irrespective of historical context, underscoring a need for moral clarity in international conflicts.
The episode shed light on the complex dynamics of Palestinian support in the West, illustrating the deep divisions and passionate debates that continue to surround the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
As tensions persist, such discussions play a critical role in shaping public understanding and policy directions.
