QuikTrip is one of the largest privately held convenience store and fuel chains in the United States, with a loyal customer base while expanding into new states and opening larger travel centers.
With that kind of momentum, folks are looking for ways to grab a piece of that pie for themselves.
But is QuikTrip publicly traded, and does it have a stock symbol? Here’s what you need to know in 2026.
What Is QuikTrip?
QuikTrip Corporation was founded in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1958 by Burt Holmes and Chester Cadieux.
It began as a small grocery store before merging with Shopeze in 1971 to begin selling gasoline as well.
In 1977, QT began offering self-serve fast food, opening its 200th store just one year later.
The year 1991 saw QuikTrip offer a gasoline quality guarantee that was unheard of in the industry.
In 2005, QuikTrip received a commercial award for being a “Top Tier” fuel provider, meaning that it exceeds the EPA’s standards for gasoline.
QuikTrip opened its 1,200th store in Morrow, Georgia, in February 2026. The milestone followed continued expansion into new areas, including Colorado, Illinois, Tennessee, and Texas.
It employs more than 34,000 people in 23 states and remains one of the largest privately held convenience store businesses in the United States.
Who Owns QuikTrip?
The Cadieux family primarily owns QuikTrip.
The company was founded by Chester Cadieux II and is currently run by his son Chet Cadieux III.
Chet Cadieux III has served as QuikTrip’s CEO since 2002 and added the role of chairman in 2006.
QuikTrip also operates an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, or ESOP, that can give eligible employees an ownership interest in the company.
How Much Is QuikTrip Worth?
QuikTrip does not publish an official valuation at this time.
The company does not have a public market capitalization, and there is no reliable public figure showing exactly how much the entire business is worth.
A private valuation would need to consider the company’s sales, earnings, debt, real estate, store growth, fuel operations, and the valuations assigned to comparable businesses.
What Is QuikTrip’s Revenue?
QuikTrip does not release detailed quarterly or annual financial statements to the public.
Because the company is private, you cannot review the same detailed income statements, balance sheets, cash-flow statements, or SEC filings that are available for publicly traded companies.
Why Is QuikTrip Successful?
When you review the QuikTrip website, you’ll find the reason that the company sees such success.
QuikTrip was founded to serve others.
The company genuinely cares about employees and customers, and it shows in everything it does.
The company aims to serve each market it serves to the best of its abilities.
QuikTrip combines fuel sales with prepared food, drinks, snacks, groceries, and other convenience products.
This gives the company several ways to earn money from each customer visit.
Rather than manage small stores like other companies, QuikTrip only puts stores in larger markets.
The company has also expanded its travel center format, which serves passenger vehicles and commercial drivers near major highways.
QuikTrip operates its own distribution centers, bakeries, and transportation network. Its warehouses store and ship about 70% of the products sold in its stores.
This system gives QuikTrip more control over product availability, food production, and store deliveries.
QuikTrip’s strong brand, employee training, store locations, prepared food, and distribution network have helped support its expansion.
Can You Buy QuikTrip Stock?
At this time, you cannot purchase QuikTrip stock through a regular brokerage account.
It is a privately held company that has no plans for an initial public offering (IPO).
Employees, on the other hand, can join QuikTrip’s employee stock ownership plan (ESOP).
The ESOP is an employee benefit and does not make QuikTrip stock available to retail investors.
When Is the QuikTrip IPO Date?
Since QuikTrip is privately held, it has not had an initial public offering (IPO).
QuikTrip has not announced that it has filed for an IPO or selected a date to begin trading on a public exchange.
An IPO would normally require the company to submit registration documents to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Those documents would provide information about QuikTrip’s finances, risks, ownership, and proposed share offering.
Until QuikTrip or the SEC releases an official filing, it’s not possible to treat any proposed IPO date found online as anything more than speculation.
What is the QuikTrip Stock Symbol?
Because QuikTrip isn’t publicly traded, it does not have a stock symbol for any exchange.
Stock symbols and tickers are reserved for public companies only.
QuikTrip has not announced or reserved an official public ticker symbol.
The letters QT are widely used as an abbreviation for QuikTrip, but QT is not a QuikTrip stock ticker.
A ticker would normally be disclosed in official company materials or an SEC registration statement if QuikTrip decided to go public.
What is QuikTrip’s Stock Price?
QuikTrip does not have an official stock price.
Its shares are not available to purchase on the open market.
As a result, there is no live QuikTrip share price, public price chart, or market capitalization.
Shares held through an employee ownership plan may receive an internal valuation, but this is not the same as a stock price set by buyers and sellers on a public exchange.
QuikTrip Competitors to Invest In
If you’re looking for companies like QuikTrip to invest in, check out some of its competitors!
Casey’s General Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ: CASY)
Casey’s is another convenience store chain with over 2,900 stores that serves the Midwest and the South.
While not the biggest in terms of its footprint, Casey’s is one of the largest chains when you look at its financials.
Casey’s reported about $17.56 billion in revenue for its 2026 fiscal year, along with a net income of $714.4 million and EBITDA of almost $1.5 billion.
Casey’s increased its quarterly dividend to $0.65 per share in July 2026. This marked its 27th consecutive annual dividend increase.
Casey’s may be the closest publicly traded alternative to QuikTrip because it earns money from fuel, groceries, beverages, and prepared food.
Still, you should consider risks such as fuel-price changes, labor costs, food inflation, acquisition expenses, and competition.
Marathon Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: MPC)
If you’re considering industrial companies centered around gasoline, Marathon could be a good investment idea.
It covers the entire market, rather than just the retail side of things.
Marathon refines, markets, and transports fuel.
However, Marathon Petroleum is not a direct convenience store alternative to QuikTrip.
Its main operations involve refining, fuel marketing, pipelines, terminals, and logistics.
Marathon previously owned the Speedway convenience store chain, but it completed the sale of Speedway to 7-Eleven in 2021.
I’d now view Marathon as a way to gain exposure to refining and fuel distribution rather than as a direct convenience store investment.
Marathon’s results can be affected by refining margins, fuel demand, energy prices, maintenance costs, regulations, and economic conditions.
Should You Buy QuikTrip Stock if It Goes Public?
Convenience stores and gas stations can remain active during economic slowdowns because customers still purchase fuel, food, drinks, and basic products.
However, no stock or industry is completely recession-proof.
Convenience store operators can face lower fuel demand, weaker consumer spending, rising wages, higher food costs, credit-card fees, and competition from other retailers.
QuikTrip could attract interest if it goes public because of its recognizable brand, large store network, prepared-food business, and history of expansion.
Still, you would need to review the company’s IPO documents before deciding whether the stock was a suitable investment.
A successful private company can still become an overpriced public stock if its IPO valuation is too high.
However, make sure to do your due diligence before investing in any company, including QuikTrip.
QuikTrip Stock: Final Thoughts
If you want to invest in QuikTrip, you cannot buy its shares on the public market at this time.
QuikTrip remains privately held and has no official ticker, public stock price, or announced IPO date.
The company continues to grow. It opened its 1,200th store in February 2026 and now has at least one location in 23 states.
That expansion may keep QuikTrip on investors’ radar, but it does not confirm that an IPO is coming.
For now, Casey’s General Stores provides one of the closest publicly traded comparisons. Marathon Petroleum offers exposure to fuel refining and distribution, but it is less similar to QuikTrip’s retail business.
