Russian Drone Attack Hits Train Station
Russia unleashed approximately 50 Shahed drones on Ukrainian targets and shelled a train station in the Kherson region. More than 100 civilians were present at the station, hoping to catch a train to Kyiv. Tragically, at least five individuals lost their lives, including a police officer, with two others wounded and two civilians killed.
Power Outage Grips Kherson
The attack extended to residential areas, a shopping mall, and the power grid, causing widespread power outages in Kherson city. Around 70 percent of households were left without electricity, creating a significant challenge, particularly in the cold weather. Authorities are uncertain about the timeline for power restoration.
Energy Infrastructure Targeted
This attack on energy infrastructure mirrors a tactic employed by Russia in the previous winter. Targeting power grids and infrastructure can severely impact daily life and further strain resources in Ukraine.

Russian Offensive Assessment
Despite Russia capturing a city in Eastern Ukraine recently, military assessments suggest that this gain may not provide a substantial advantage on the battlefield. Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Gen. Valerii Zaluzhnyi revealed that Ukrainian forces had retreated from Marinka, located west of Donetsk, due to relentless Russian destruction.
Pressure on Ukrainian Forces Continues
The Institute for the Study of War, a think-tank, believes that while major operational advances may be unlikely for Russian forces from Marinka, localized Russian offensives are still applying pressure on Ukrainian forces along various points of the Eastern Ukraine front.
