During a House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government hearing, Representative Wesley Hunt (R-TX) expressed his vehement disapproval of gender-affirming care, underscoring his commitment to safeguarding the rights of children.
He said, “My two daughters will not change in front of biological men. We must do everything we can to protect them.”

Hunt advocates for child safety at transgender rights hearing
Present at the hearing were Paula Scanlan, a former female college athlete who was compelled to compete against trans-identifying male swimmer Lia Thomas, as well as detransitioner Chloe Cole, among others.
Hunt, a combat veteran, stated his belief in adults’ rights to self-determination but insisted that the safety of children was paramount.
Hunt terms medical approach to child gender dysphoria ‘child mutilation’
He said, “I fought for your right as an adult to make your own decision. But with children, it’s a different story. It is our obligation to protect them.”
Hunt criticized the American medical establishment’s handling of child gender dysphoria, terming it “child mutilation” and stating that it has “absolutely lost its mind.”
Hunt compares international approaches to child gender dysphoria
He referenced countries like Finland, Sweden, France, and the U.K., where he believes they are “reversing course” and “asking questions.”
He queried, “What do their doctors know that our doctors don’t?”

Hunt’s concern over trans policies affecting his daughters
Hunt expressed his worry for his daughters, “Ms. Scanlan, my daughters will watch this.”
“I can assure you that my four-year-old and two-year-old daughters will not change in front of biological men. This is ridiculous.”
Hunt defends biological distinction in sports in transgender debate
He expressed his viewpoint, irrespective of political affiliations, arguing that recognizing men and women as biologically identical was irrational.
“I don’t care what party you are a part of,” he added. “If you think that we are all equal and the same biologically, you’ve literally lost your mind.”
“And when my two daughters work hard in a sport, work hard in their craft to be the best that they can be, amongst other women, they will compete against other women.”
Hunt Advocates for future change, promises commitment to protecting women
He declared, “I owe Victoria, Olivia, and every other young lady in this country that. If you think I’m wrong, I am not the problem, I can assure you.”
“We have an opportunity in this country to get this right in 2024, so we can stop all of this foolishness.”

Scanlan, Cole criticizes university, healthcare system in testimonies
Scanlan’s testimony revealed that her concerns about Thomas went unheard at the University of Pennsylvania.
Similarly, Cole expressed disappointment in the medical healthcare system, claiming it had “failed her on every single level.”
